Grants and Awards

The American Horticultural Therapy Association administers several  awards.

Charles A. Lewis Excellence in Research Award
AHTA has established a new award in memory of Charlie Lewis, a horticulturalist whose enthusiastic efforts to make the natural world accessible to all were an inspiration to everyone who knew him. The award honors outstanding research in the field of horticultural therapy, in the belief that evidence-based research demonstrating the effectiveness of HT is critical.

Visit the Charles A. Lewis Excellence in Research Award page for more information on Charlie and the award. Nominations for the 2011 Award are now being accepted. Download a nomination form here.

AHTA also encourages all those who were influenced by Charlie and his work to consider making a special donation to the award’s endowment.

AHTA Annual Awards
To recognize significant contributions in the field of horticultural therapy, AHTA presents awards annually for the following services:

  •  professional service,
  • community service,
  • humanitarian service,
  • publications, and
  • academic achievement.

These awards promote awareness of and professional growth in horticultural therapy. Click on the AHTA Annual Awards to learn more about each award opportunity.
