Horticultural Therapy Workshops

Coordinating an AHTA-Accredited Workshop

The function of a horticultural therapy workshop should be to create public awareness, train professionals and volunteers, and create a setting for exchange of ideas and program planning. The information below is intended to provide workshop planners with guidelines that may help them to organize a local or regional workshop.

Workshop accreditation by AHTA enables you to offer a specific number of points to those who are seeking their HTM, HTR or HTA credentials. Accreditation by AHTA ensures certain minimal guidelines have been met, and certificates will be awarded to attendees. Applications for workshop accreditation must be postmarked three months before the workshop, to be considered by the AHTA.

Please note that, as of June, 2006, AHTA will no longer be accrediting educational programs (including certificate programs and workshops) that take place outside the U.S. The Board of Directors made this decision based on the difficulty in assessing international applications, due to differences in cultures and educational systems.
