The Michigan Horticultural Therapy Association (MHTA) will hold its 38th annual conference "Horticultural Therapy: Connecting People & Plants” on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Michigan State University. The conference will be held at the Plant & Soil Sciences Building in conjunction with Agriculture and Natural Resources Week.

The MHTA conference is beneficial to anyone interested in learning how the people-plant interaction brings therapeutic change and improves well-being. This event features informative breakout sessions, book/product sales, hands-on workshops, displays, refreshments, door prizes and optional visit to the MSU Indoor/Outdoor Children’s Garden.

Lesley Fleming, MA, HTR will present the keynote address, “The Versatility of Gardening for Both Recreation and Treatment”. Join us to learn how gardening activities are being used to achieve specific and documented health benefits.

Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) from the American Therapeutic Recreation Association and NCTRC have been approved (.5 points) for this event for those interested. Everyone is welcome to join us in learning the benefits of horticulture as therapy.
