We are a year-round HT program in a physical rehab hospital that primarily services stroke, brain injury,

spinal cord injury, and orthopedic populations, as well as other diagnoses. The HT program is goal

oriented and an integral part of a patient’s treatment plan. HT therapy sessions take place in our

greenhouse, Enabling Garden, and activities center. Tours are provided by calling or emailing me to set

up a time.

We are a residential mental health organization with a working farm. We work with people with serious

mental health and addiction issues. As an intern you would be an integral part of the treatment team for

up to four residents that choose the greenhouse as their work program. We work in the greenhouse

doing horticultural therapy every day from 9 am till noon and from 1pm till 3 pm. Our interns will

shadow the HTR on site for the crst month, work side by side the second month and run the HT

program the last month with the HTR as the supervisor.

internship at Perry Point through their Plant Science program. Students must go through the University.

An alternative for experience but not an oocial internship is to complete the application process and

orientation through our Voluntary Service and volunteer for a period of time in HT. However, there would

be signiccantly more limits as to what student was allowed to do within the program. Free housing

could be provided with a year's advance notice.

Possibly a part-time paid position will become available through a grant we have secured. Opportunity

to work with Community volunteers- corporate and community organizations. We plan to introduce

some gardening programming to inner city youth. Great opportunity to work with Special needs children

and adults, inner-city youth, and hands-on experience in an established HT program with a seasonal

garden.

horticulture department facility; Individuals with Special Needs, ages 14 and above.

Although the greenhouse is open in the summer, currently we do not have programming during that

time because of the heat. Our programming roughly follows the semester schedule of the University of

Florida. We do not have a paid internship at this time but we do write grants for our program and

depending on timing and funding sources, there may be minor funding available.
