The Different Levels of Membership
To accommodate the needs of a varied membership base, AHTA now offers seven membership categories.
Below outlines membership qualifications and benefits. Memberships are effective for one year from the date you join. Membership Dues are voluntary, all amounts are in U.S. dollars, and are non-refundable.
Member Term Details
Certified Professional
Open to all individuals who have fulfilled and maintain the requirements of certification by the American Horticultural Therapy Association. Credentialed Professionals receive full member benefits. Credentialed members may vote and/or hold office.
Membership fee: $200.00
Professional
Open to all individuals who have fulfilled and maintain the requirements of professional registration by the American Horticultural Therapy Association. Professional members receive full membership benefits. Professional members may vote and/or hold office.
Membership fee: $250.00
Preprofessional
Open to all individuals seeking certification and/or professional registration with the American Horticultural Therapy Association. Preprofessional members are required to be 1) currently enrolled in an AHTA accredited horticultural therapy certificate program or 2)
attending classes part-time to meet the AHTA certification and/or professional registration requirements, or 3) have initiated a horticultural therapy internship with an AHTA approved internship supervisor to be completed within the next 2 years. Preprofessional members receive full membership benefits. Preprofessional members may vote and/or hold office.
Membership fee: $120.00
Associate
Open to all individuals not professionally registered with the American Horticultural therapy Association and interested in supporting the horticultural therapy profession. Associate members receive full membership benefits. Associate members may vote and/or hold office.
Membership fee: $185.00
Organizational
Open to all organizations and educational institutions that support the American Horticultural Therapy Association. Organizational members shall designate in writing an individual representative for purposes of receiving membership benefits. Organizational
members receive all membership benefits. Organizational members may not vote and/or hold office.
Membership fee: $500.00
Retired
Open to all Certified and Professional members of the American Horticultural Therapy Association who are age 62 and older and retired from gainful employment. Retired members receive the same benefits and privileges as Certified and Professional members. A request for
change in membership status must be made in writing.
Membership fee: $95.00
Student
Open to all full-time students enrolled in a university or college degree program (any curriculum). Student members must submit, in writing, proof of full-time enrollment. Student members receive all membership benefits. Student members may not vote and/or hold office.
Membership fee: $65.00
Honorary
The Board of Directors may elect individuals to Honorary membership in recognition of long service and/or distinctive contribution to the field. Honorary members receive the same benefits and privileges as Certified and Professional members.
Membership fee: Waived
