Welcome to the American Horticultural Therapy Association
Established in 1973, the American Horticultural Therapy Association (AHTA) is the only national US organization advocating for the development of the horticultural therapy profession and the practice of horticulture as therapy for human well-being. AHTA supports the professional development, education, and expertise of horticultural therapy practitioners. Individuals and organizations located across the US and beyond are members. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit membership-driven organization with the mission to promote and advance the profession of horticultural therapy as a therapeutic and rehabilitative modality.
Registration Now Open for AHTA 2023: 50 Years of Cultivating Horticultural Therapy October 20–21, 2023
AHTA 2023: 50 Years of Cultivating Horticultural Therapy will be virtual this year! The virtual format for AHTA 2023 will certainly be different, but it creates the opportunity to reach a more expansive group of horticultural therapists from around the world. The conference format will use technology that has worked well for other recent online conferences to emphasize virtual discussion during the conference event, including small-group engagement for poster presentations.
This year’s conference will feature a diverse array of speakers from over 10 different countries. Topics include horticultural therapy/therapeutic horticulture (HT/TH) programs of the past, current trends in HT/TH programming, and visions for the future in the field of HT/TH. Research on the use of HT/TH will also be included, as well as practical advice on building partnerships, creating portable programming stations, and publishing in the Journal of Therapeutic Horticulture.
We are proud to launch our new public search feature that allows companies or the general public to search for HTRs near them. The public search can simplify the process and make finding HTRs more accessible. Benefits may include: consult work for HTRs, job opportunities, being apart of communities, availability to present on horticultural therapy, and share on the profession!
